Police mentioned they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.

An important official said the attack made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
